Lately our dog of two has been doing something he's never done before, which is rare, we pretty much know all that goes on in that mischievous little head of his. We bought him a pack of rawhide bones to busy himself with (instead of ransacking the bathroom trash bin for the tenth time each day, yeah lots of fun cleaning that up- no thank you, or bringing us countless squeaky toys one after the other wanting to play a two hour game of fetch- again, no thank you. One hour, yes. Two hours, no.) and they work like a charm! why we haven't bought them before, I don't know. But now he's hiding the little bits and pieces under various blankets throughout the house, using his nose to bury them and pat the invisible dirt over in weird shovel-like motions, which, doesn't work with blankets if there are still people trying to keep warm under them. So he digs furiously with his two front paws like cute little doggies do, and does the weird shovel thing with his nose. If it were real dirt it would be pretty effective, but since it's just air.. and not really even blanket, it's so hard not to laugh out loud when he obviously gets frustrated (and sometimes sneezes in disdain) that it doesn't work (we even try to help him). Sweet Wesley, maybe in the future B and I will buy a sandbox for you in the backyard of our future home (where the neighbors will ask us about our kids and we'll say oh, no.. the sandbox is for our dog and they'll give us a weird look and we'll have to switch wards in order to avoid weird confrontations in the future [of our future]).
